Illusions of Grandeur

When this sky unfolded on the canvas, it was clearly going to be the star of the show. However, it needed supporting landscape. I played with various gestures and movement until the rest of the painting felt right. It never ceases to amaze me how a lines, shapes and color can create the illusion of something. Yet when you look close, you only see the abstraction. I don't paint from photos, only memories of places I've been, and dreams of places I would love to go. May you enjoy letting this illusion take you places.
